Amos

amos.jpgOut of love, God strongly rebuked the “health and wealth” religious assemblies in the time of Amos. “I hate all your show and pretense—the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies. Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living” (Amos 5:21, 23, 24). The Dai are a people that generally live along the river valleys; they know the power of floods and they benefit daily from rivers that do not run dry. Yet they have much to learn about justice and righteous living. Their temple worship is not pleasing to God, as He is not honored and adored in mainstream Dai life. Many Shan Dai still do not know God but they do live in the nature He has created. We pray for the truth of who God is to reach them. God forms the mountains, causes the wind to blow, reveals His thoughts to mankind and turns dawn to darkness. He is the author of everything good. Creator God, we pray that You would turn our hearts, and the hearts of the Dai, to You that we may seek You above the good that You give. As the Dai fish in the rivers, plant crops in the valleys, see the sun rise and then set over the mountains and feel Your wind blow, may they know that You are the richness in their lives.
